The content of medical school courses is primarily a matter for the authorities of the bodies which award medical qualifications in this country. The Medical Council is required under section 35 of the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978, to satisfy itself as to the suitability of the medical education and training being provided and the council is so satisfied about existing courses.
I understand that all registered medical practitioners are from time to time circularised about the issuing of prescriptions in accordance with the provisions of the Misuse of Drugs Acts, 1977 to 1984.
