Vol. 373 No. 12

Written Answers. - Housing for the Elderly.

122.

asked the Minister for the Environment if, due to the acute shortage of accommodation for the elderly in Cork city, he will give Oakdene House a grant under the sheltered housing for the elderly scheme to assist them in the purchase of the Convent, Windmill Road, Cork, and so help them to extend the very valuable voluntary work they are doing; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The scheme of assistance for the provision of housing accommodation for elderly and other disadvantaged persons is administered by local authorities who are responsible for ensuring that projects comply generally with the terms of the scheme and that the technical standards required are observed. The promoters of this project should accordingly pursue the matter with Cork Corporation.
