The estimated expenditure for 1987 and the 1986 out-turn includes expenditure on transport and marine functions transferred to other Government Departments with effect from 31 March 1987.
Constant monitoring and control of this expenditure is exercised on a monthly basis to ensure that expenditure is kept to the minimum consistent with the efficient discharge of the Department's functions.
