Vol. 373 No. 13

Written Answers. - Shannon New Health Clinic.

207.

asked the Minister for Health when his Department will provide funds for the establishment of a health centre at Shannon town, County Clare for which planning permission has been granted; and when he expects work to commence on this project.

208.

asked the Minister for Health if construction of the health clinic which has been proposed for Shannon, County Clare will begin this year in view of the very poor conditions which exist in the building currently in use; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 207 and 208 together.

The proposed new health centre for Shannon town is at an early stage of planning. The question of whether it can proceed to a more advanced planning stage is under consideration at present in the context of the limited capital funds available and the many other capital projects for which funding is being sought. In the circumstances I cannot say at present when it is expected that work on the project will commence.
