Vol. 373 No. 13

Written Answers. - Telephone and Postal Costs.

206.

asked the Minister for Labour the estimated amount his Department will pay to Telecom Éireann and An Post during 1987 for services rendered; if it is possible to make savings in these areas of expenditure; and if he will give the corresponding figures for the 1986 outturn.

It is estimated that £620,000 will be paid to Telecom Eireann and £505,000 to An Post during 1987 for services rendered. The 1986 outturn in respect of those services was £704,000 to Telecom Eireann and £380,000 to An Post. Consistent with maintaining a service to the public, spending under these headings is constantly monitored with a view to achieving maximum economy.
