Vol. 373 No. 13

Written Answers. - Surplus Defence Sites.

217.

asked the Minister for Defence arising out of his reply to Parliamentary Question 16 of 10 June 1987, the number of surplus sites which have been selected for disposal, giving the location and an outline description in each case; whether their disposal is being actively pursued; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick West): While a number of surplus sites have been selected, decisions on when to dispose of those vested in me, to best advantage, have not yet been taken. The preliminary legal and other inquiries associated with property transfers are being pursued. The properties vested in the Minister for Finance when they are vacated will be returned to the Commissioners for Public Works. In the meantime, it would not be in the public interest, for security reasons, to specify the properties involved.
