asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will allow an option for payment of milk, flat rate or fat rate under the proposed new legislation; the reason the Government has withdrawn the proposals of the previous Government which gave the option to the co-operative to choose between payment based on fat rate or flat rate; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

No decision has yet been made by the Government on new dairy produce legislation which would provide inter alia, for the method of payment for milk. However, a decision in the matter is expected shortly.
