Vol. 373 No. 13

Written Answers. - Use of Home-Grown Cereals.

31.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will ensure that at all times Irish grown cereals are used in the production of Irish beef and sheepmeat for export; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have at all times encouraged the greatest possible use of home-grown cereals in the manufacture of livestock rations. It is essential, however, that the ingredients used in these rations should be of a price and quality that will enable the livestock product involved compete on the home and export markets.
