Vol. 373 No. 13

Written Answers. - Environmental Sensitive Areas.

52.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he intends designating any part of this country as an environmental sensitive area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The measure relating to a Community system of aids for farming in environmentally sensitive areas has not yet been finalised.

The 1987 Vote for Agriculture contains no provision for the introduction of the scheme this year. The matter will be examined further in the context of the 1988 Estimates but at this stage it is unlikely that the necessary funds can be made available.
