Vol. 373 No. 13

Written Answers. - Robertstown Kildare Amenities.

82.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will make funds available from the national lottery to help run the amenities on the canal and the hotel at Robertstown, County Kildare, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Government have allocated the first £7 million of revenue from the national lottery to the areas of youth and sport, arts, culture and the Irish language, and the health of the community. The amenities on the canal and the hotel at Robertstown, County Kildare would not qualify for assistance under any of these categories.

However, since the revenue from the lottery this year is now forecast to be significantly in excess of the £7 million already forecast, I am consulting with my colleagues on how best to allocate the additional resources now likely to be available. Applications for assistance for any project should be addressed to the Minister responsible for that area of activity. I will consider the recommendations made by my colleagues when putting proposals to Government for the allocation of the additional funds.
