asked the Minister for Finance if he will make a statement regarding the serious coastal erosion that is occurring at Ballybunion beach, County Kerry; and the plans, if any, he has to take corrective action to prevent further damage occurring.

Kerry County Council submitted to the Commissioners of Public Works proposals for a coast protection schemes at Yellow Point, Ballybunion, in accordance with the Coast Protection Act, 1963.

The commissioners have advised the council that a statutory determination in accordance with the Act will not be made until such time as an adequate prohibitory order, to prevent the removal of beach material in the area has been obtained and enforced by the council.
