Vol. 374 No. 1

Written Answers. - Lough Mask (County Mayo) Pollution.

224.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will make a statement in regard to reports that Lough Mask, County Mayo is becoming polluted.

The recent An Foras Forbartha report on water quality in Ireland records an improvement in the water quality status of Lough Mask between 1979-81 and 1985. Mayo County Council, which has statutory responsibility for water quality in the lake, assures me that there is no evidence of any recent deterioration in relation to the quality of the lake water.
