Vol. 374 No. 1

Written Answers. - Nursing Services.

236.

asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the proposal to shelve the diploma in public health nursing course at UCD as a result of a shortfall of finances and that this can only be altered by a subvention from his Department; his views on whether the nursing services in communities are stretched to the limit and that there are insufficient numbers of public nurses to deal with a preventive service, health education, and a curative service; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Deputy will be pleased to know that the Diploma in Public Health Nursing course at UCD has not been shelved and I am satisfied that health boards are maintaining an adequate level of service.
