Vol. 374 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Donegal School Appointment.

265.

asked the Minister for Education if it is proposed to appoint a remedial teacher for the national school in the Glenties/Ardara area of County Donegal; and if so, when.

Remedial teaching at primary level is a matter in the first instance for the child's class teacher. Available remedial teaching posts are allocated in accordance with a priority of need. The application from schools in the Glenties area has not to date been placed sufficiently high in order of priority of educational need to warrant the allocation of a post. The application will, however, be further considered in the light of the availability of posts in the future.

My Department has no record of an application from the authorities of schools in Ardara.
