asked the Minister for Education in relation to each personal assistant, adviser, consultant, typist, secretary, or other category employed from outside the Civil Service in a temporary or part-time or permanent capacity, or on a contractual basis since 10th March, the name, rank, remuneration and terms of employment, and if seconded, from where.

The function of the constituency offices is to support and assist the Ministers with the organisation and running of constituency affairs. The function of the private office is to provide a service to the Ministers in relation to their functions as Ministers and to keep them advised of current issues and development.

Certain functions in the education area have been delegated to the Minister of State in the Department of Education. These are youth affairs; sport; construction of national and post-primary school buildings; school transport; amalgamation of national schools in Gaeltacht areas; all-Irish national schools; special and remedial education.
