Vol. 374 No. 1

Written Answers. - New Ross (Wexford) Advance Factory.

22.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if his attention has been drawn to the essential need for the IDA to construct an advance factory in New Ross, County Wexford in view of the alarming unemployment levels of over 25 per cent in this town; and if he will support the IDA in this regard.

I am aware of the level of unemployment in New Ross.

Due to budgetary constraints, new advance factories are only constructed to meet the specific requirements of an individual project. It is not, therefore, intended to construct a new advance factory in New Ross at this time. The IDA are however, continuing to actively promote their 27.5 acre serviced site in the town for suitable projects.
