Vol. 374 No. 3

Written Answers. - Increases of PAYE Allowances.

27.

asked the Minister for Finance the amounts of revenue foregone in a full year by increasing the PAYE allowance by £100 and by increasing the personal allowances by £100.

The full year cost estimated by reference to the position for the current income tax year is estimated at £85 million. This includes the estimated revenue effect of associated increases in the widowed person's allowance, the widowed parent allowance and the single personal allowance. It is assumed that the increase in the single personal allowance must be combined with double that increase in the allowance for married persons assessed to tax on the aggregate basis.
