Vol. 374 No. 3

Written Answers. - Book of Estimates Provisions.

112.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will make a statement regarding the programmes which are included in subhead P7 of the Book of Estimates entitled Grant for Enterprise Development; in respect of each programme so included the provision for 1988; and the comparable figure for 1987.

Subhead P7 in the Labour Vote in the Book of Estimates relates to the enterprise scheme formerly known as the enterprise allowance scheme and administered by the National Manpower Service. The allocation for 1988 of £7 million compares with an original allocation for the scheme in 1987 of £8.244 million. The outturn for 1987 is, however, expected to be of the order of £7.3 million.

Other forms of State assistance from the Labour Vote for enterprise development are provided for under Subheads P2 (Training — Grant-in-Aid) and P8 (Grant for Community Enterprise Programme and Graduate Placement Programmes).

113.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will make a statement regarding the provision which has been made in the 1988 Estimates for payment of fees to the chairman, vice-chairman and members of the Employment Appeals Tribunal.

The payment of fees to the chairman, vice-chairmen and members of the Employment Appeals Tribunal is provided for in Subhead A.1 of my Department's Estimates.

As the Deputy is aware, the details of the 1988 Estimates have not been published yet. However, the fees provision for tribunal members will be similar to that in the 1987 Vote and should be sufficient to meet expected activity levels in 1988.
