asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the following items which appear in the Revised Estimates for the Public Services 1987: Estimate for the Environment, page 85 (a) special grant to Cork County Council subhead F4 for sanitary services projects £250,000 and (b) grants to Cork County Council and other bodies subhead V for certain community, recreational, environmental projects £1,497,000.

The grants provided in the two subheads are for special projects in the Bantry region. In the case of subhead F4, the provision is in respect of two public sewerage schemes, while subhead V covers a large number of local development projects carried out by Cork County Council and local community and sporting organisations. I would emphasise in this regard that existing contractual commitments entered into on foot of grant already notified will be honoured.
