Vol. 374 No. 4

Written Answers. - Disabled Person's House Loan.

23.

asked the Minister for the Environment his views on whether justice has been done in the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12 who is married with five children, lives in a small three bedroomed house with two other adults and who has been turned down for a loan to build a disabled person's extension, to supplement the grant, on the basis that his income exceeded £10,000 in the previous year and the plans, if any, he has to deal with the maximum income level in such cases.

The maximum income limit which determines eligibility for local authority house improvement loans was increased from £8,000 to £10,000 as recently as 5 June 1986. The implementation of the limit, in common with the other conditions of the scheme, is a matter for the housing authority concerned.
