The standard levels of remuneration of the ordinary non-executive directors of boards, companies or agencies under the control of my Department are as follows:

The last two occasions on which there were general revisions in the above fees was in 1964 and 1974. In 1964 all fees under £500 per annum were increased by 25 per cent subject to the increased fees not exceeding £500. In 1974, there was a 60 per cent increase, based on movements in the fees of private sector directors. There have been no increases since 1974.
No remuneration is paid to some directors who are civil servants and the Irish National Petroleum Corporation has one non-resident specially qualified director who is paid at a higher level.
