Vol. 374 No. 9

Written Answers. - Retention of Woodwork Teachers.

17.

asked the Minister for Education if, in view of her support as Opposition spokesperson on education in May 1985 for the retention of the woodwork teacher at the Christian Brothers School, Lismore, County Waterford, she will retain the said teacher; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

182.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the woodwork teacher for St. Anne's post primary school, Cappoquin and CBS post primary school, Lismore, County Waterford; if she will ensure the continuation of this service to both schools; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 17 and 182 together.

My Department issued sanction to the County Waterford VEC on 1 July last for the allocation by the VEC, under the category of "Co-operation with other institutions", of 0.5 whole time teacher equivalent to the CBS Lismore and 0.5 whole time teacher equivalent to St. Anne's School, Cappoquin for the 1987-88 session so as to provide for the teaching of woodwork in those schools on the usual condition that the cost of providing this service be recouped to the VEC.
