Apart from minor capital works of an emergency nature my Department has not sanctioned the commencement of construction for any project at a post-primary school since the beginning of the current school year. The restriction on the relevant capital allocation, which the Government considers necessary under its programme for national recovery, precludes incurring expenditure on any new building starts during 1988, other than on minor capital works of an emergency nature.
