Vol. 374 No. 9

Written Answers. - Tallaght (Dublin) Garda Patrols.

89.

asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the concern of the residents of Raheen Estate, Tallaght, Dublin 24, at the alleged lack of adequate Garda foot-patrols in the area; the proposals, if any he has to improve the situation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The precise arrangements for the policing of particular areas are a matter for the Garda authorities, who have informed me that the Raheen area is receiving as much Garda attention as is practicable from both foot and mobile patrols, having regard to overall resources and other demands on Garda services.

The Garda authorities state that the Raheen Neighbourhood Watch Scheme was reorganised recently and that a Garda who has been given particular responsibility for the area will liaise with the area co-ordinators and other residents about local crime problems.
