The proposal to merge Bord Fáilte and CERT is one of the recommendations contained in the recently published report on improving Irish tourism commissioned by the previous Government in 1986 and prepared by Price Waterhouse.
The Government have requested the views of the tourism industry and those of all other parties on the analysis and recommendations contained in the report.
The proposal to merge Bord Fáilte and CERT will be examined following receipt of submissions. The Government intentions in this regard will be outlined in the Five Year Programme for tourism currently being prepared in my Department.
