Vol. 375 No. 1

Written Answers. - Meath Garda Station Manning.

43.

asked the Minister for Justice the steps, if any, he intends taking to avoid the absence of gardaí in Duleek, County Meath for four days, which happened from Thursday, 1 October to Monday, 5 October and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The detailed policing arrangements for individual areas are a matter for the Garda authorities who have informed me that while Duleek Garda station was not open from 2 to 4 October 1987, arrangements were made for the policing of the Duleek area from the district headquarters at Navan on those three days. On those days, as at all times when the station is closed, callers there could contact the district headquarters at Navan by means of the external radio-telephone or "Green Man", which can be used free of charge at any time of day or night. The Garda in Navan are in contact with all patrols in the area and calls for assistance are attended to by the nearest available unit.

I understand from the Garda authorities that Duleek station was open on 1 and 5 October 1987.
