59.

asked the Taoiseach the numbers of staff in the public service who have (a) applied for early retirement (b) applied for redeployment and (c) applied for career breaks; the numbers of staff who have been accepted by his Department for same; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The following statement sets out the information requested by the Deputy.

(a) Four applications for early retirement have been received in the Department of the Taoiseach. Four applications have been received in the Central Statistics Office. The applications are being assessed in the context of the parameters of the early retirement/voluntary redundancy scheme.

(b) Since 1 August, 1987 two staff members have been redeployed from the Department of the Taoiseach and two have been redeployed to the Department including one on return from a career break. Seven have applied for transfer to the Department of the Taoiseach. No transfers have taken place to date.

Three staff members have been redeployed to the Central Statistics Office and three exchanges with staff from the Department of Social Welfare have taken place. Nine have applied for transfer to other Departments. No transfers have taken place to date.

Ó Lúnasa 1987 ní bhfuarthas aon iarratas ón bhfoireann i Roinn na Gaeltachta ná sna heagrais Stát-tionscanta faoina scáth chun scor go luath nó go n-athdháileofaí iad.

(c) Four staff members in the Department of the Taoiseach applied for and were granted career breaks since 1 August 1987.

Eight staff members in the Central Statistics Office applied for and were granted career breaks. A total of 14 commenced career breaks in the period in question.

Ó 1 Lúnasa 1987 ní bhfuarthas ach an t-aon iarratas ar shos gairme i gcás Bord na Gaeilge amháin agus ceadaíodh é sin.
