Vol. 375 No. 1

Written Answers. - Civil Service Transfers.

70.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give priority for transfer purposes to those civil servants from County Tipperary who wish to be transferred to the proposed new Government Department offices at Nenagh, County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It would not be appropriate to give priority to one civil servant over another on the basis of what counties they were born in. This must apply to all transfers under the decentralisation programme. It is to be expected that a substantial proportion of those applying for, and achieving transfers will in fact be natives of the town or counties concerned.
