Vol. 375 No. 1

Written Answers. - Prisoner Assault Allegations.

102.

asked the Minister for Justice if the allegations of a person (details supplied) in Limerick prison that he was assaulted by a prison officer have been investigated; and if so, the outcome of the investigation.

While the governor of the prison could not find any evidence to support the allegations made by the offender, in view of the serious nature of the allegations he asked the garda to investigate this matter. He was subsequently informed that a file on this matter was submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions who directed that no prosecution be taken.
