asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of all the statutory and voluntary bodies or agencies which come under the aegis of his Department.

In addition to the eight regional health boards, there are 32 statutory and three voluntary bodies currently under the aegis of my Department as follows:

National Council for the Aged

National Drugs Advisory Board

National Health Council

National Rehabilitation Board

National Social Services Board

Postgraduate Medical and Dental Board

St. James's Hospital Board

St. Laurence's Hospital Board

Therapeutic Substances Advisory Committee

Voluntary Health Insurance Board

Voluntary Bodies

Irish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children

National Association for the Mentally Handicapped of Ireland

Union of Voluntary Organisations for the Handicapped

In addition to these three bodies which function at a national level my Department is involved with a wide variety of voluntary hospitals and organisations providing services to the sick and to the physically and mentally handicapped, on behalf of the health boards.

Many other voluntary organisations receive financial and other support direct from the regional health boards.
