Vol. 375 No. 4

Written Answers. - Holiday Pay Arrears.

201.

asked the Minister for Labour if his attention has been drawn to the fact that those who were made redundant in 1984 from the tannery in Portlaw, County Waterford have received payment of redundancy but to date have not received payments for holiday money due to them; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department has not received applications for payment of arrears of holiday pay under the Protection of Employees (Employers' Insolvency) Act, 1984, in respect of the former employees of the tannery in Portlaw who were made redundant in 1984. I understand, however, from the receiver of the company involved that solicitors for the employees have made a claim on the receiver for payment of arrears of holiday pay but that the receiver has experienced difficulties in verifying the individual entitlements.

In order to pursue their claim for payment of any outstanding holiday pay under the 1984 Act, the employees concerned should complete form IP1 individually and return the completed forms to the receiver, who will in turn apply to my Department for funds to enable the employees to be paid. When the application from the receiver, supported by the individual claims, is received in my Department, it will be processed without delay.
