Vol. 375 No. 7

Written Answers. - Transfer Rate.

124.

asked the Minister for Education the current transfer rate from second level to third level full time education.

It is estimated that 36.6 per cent of students who were enrolled in the final year of the leaving certificate course in 1984-85 transferred to third level education in 1985-86. The transfer rate for school candidates who sat the leaving certificate in June 1985 and proceeded to third level education in 1985-86 is estimated at 36.9 per cent.

As a number of third level colleges have not yet submitted statistical returns in respect of the 1986-87 academic year, it is not possible to give the transfer rate between 1985-86 and 1986-87.
