The total amount due by fishermen to BIM in respect of loan agreements amounted to £19 million as at 31 October, 1987. Exchequer guarantees are not given to the banks on foot of loans to fishermen. There are however BIM guarantees totalling £15 million as at 31 October, 1987 in respect of such loans.
