Vol. 376 No. 2

Written Answers. - Abolition of Land Tax.

28.

asked the Minister for Finance the estimated revenue foregone to each local authority arising from the abolition of the land tax for the year 1987.

Local authorities' expected receipts from the farm tax in 1987 were provisionally estimated at £13 million. Following abolition of the tax, this sum was provided to the local authorities by way of the rate support grants. Accordingly, there was no revenue loss to local authorities on account of abolition of the tax.
