Vol. 376 No. 5

Written Answers. - Social Employment Scheme.

171.

asked the Minister for Labour the reason 14 projects in County Wexford under the social employment scheme are being held up; the reason moneys outstanding and due to Wexford County Council in respect of social employment scheme projects remain unpaid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The projects referred to had not been approved by my Department when they commenced. The Social Employment Scheme Monitoring Committee had deferred consideration of these projects pending the outcome of discussions which are continuing, between the council and the trade unions concerned.

As regards moneys outstanding, Wexford County Council have been requested to provide statements of accounts in prospect of projects on which moneys are due. On receipt of the statements all outstanding moneys will be paid.
