Vol. 376 No. 6

Written Answers. - AnCO Training Course.

119.

asked the Minister for Labour (a) if he will approve the application from the Maynooth Women's Co-operative Group, County Kildare, for an AnCO training course, (b) if his attention has been drawn to the existence of this application, (c) if there is a requirement to meet any further conditions, (d) if grant approval will incorporate and fund the completion of a community survey in respect of the proposed project, and (e) if he will further give details of the length of time the approval has been under consideration; when he envisages approval will issue; if such approval is likely to issue before the end of the current year; the reasons, if any, for not granting approval; whether the 1988 Estimate contains sufficient funds to enable the project to proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The group in question are seeking AnCO funding for a course to be held locally under AnCO's community response programme. Training would cover entrepreneurial skills, personal and group skills concentrating on community enterprise. I understand that the group's proposal will be considered in January 1988 by the approvals committee of FÁS dealing with the community response programme.

The level of funding provided for FÁS for 1988 will be adequate to maintain the same level of training activity as 1987.
