asked the Minister for Finance the number of tax inspectors and other staff directly involved with revenue collection employed by the Revenue Commissioners, and expressed as a percentage of the total number of taxpayers; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The total number of staff directly involved with collection of the undermentioned taxes is 3,977 which represents 0.27 per cent of the number of cases on record: income tax (including PAYE), value-added tax, corporation tax and capital taxes.
