Vol. 376 No. 6

Written Answers. - Office of Public Works Staff Redundancies.

29.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of staff employed by the Office of Public Works who have been, or are intended to be, made redundant; the terms that will apply; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Forty-three employees of the Office of Public Works have to date accepted redundancy terms under the Government's redundancy-early retirement package. It is anticipated that some 300 additional redundancies-early retirements will be effected in the Office of Public Works over the next few months. The full financial terms of the redundancy-early retirement package will be available to these employees. A further five workers who were on short term contracts were also made redundant. The terms of the package did not apply to these workers. They did, however, receive their full statutory redundancy entitlements together with the terms of relevant Labour Court recommendations where appropriate.
