The number of public servants transferred to my Department from the former Department of the Public Service was 356. Since the merger of the two Departments the total number of officers has been reduced by 73 as a result of redeployment, career breaks, retirement etc. Further reductions will be made as opportunities arise over the coming months. It is proposed to transfer definitively two officers who have been on loan to the Houses of the Oireachtas subject to satisfactory arrangements being workedout.
