Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the carrying out of an inspection in order that payment of a mortgage subsidy can be made to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

There has been no undue delay; an inspection was carried out recently and payment of the mortgage subsidy instalments now due will be made as soon as possible.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a first instalment of a mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan.

An inspection, with a view to approval and payment of the grant, will be carried out as soon as possible. Following payment of the grant the first instalment of the mortgage subsidy will be paid when the applicant submits the claim form duly completed and certified by the lending agency.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding payment of a house improvement grant in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

asked the Minister for the Environment in relation to applications received in his Department between January and 16 March 1987, the average length of time taken to carry out inspections for house improvement grants in County Kerry.

The precise information in the form requested is not available. However the length of time taken for such inspections in County Kerry during the period in question is estimated to have been about eight weeks with some variations in individual cases depending on the volume of inspections, prevailing weather conditions, etc.
