Vol. 376 No. 10

Written Answers. - County Cavan National School.

100.

asked the Minister for Education when a general purpose room will be built at St. Brigid's national school, Kill, Cootehill, County Cavan; if her attention has been drawn to the severe overcrowded conditions in this school; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

Because of the pressure on the capital available to my Department for the national schools buildings programme, I am not in a position to say when it may be possible to make an allocation for the building of a general purposes room at St. Brigid's national school, Kill, Cootehill, County Cavan. I note the Deputy's reference to conditions in this school, and have asked my Department's primary buildings branch to investigate the matter. If it be found that overcrowding is a problem, my Department's professional advisers will make recommendations as to what assistance could be offered to the school in this matter by way of short-term relief.
