Vol. 377 No. 2

Written Answers. - Castleisland (Kerry) School.

91.

asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to commence work on the proposed extension to Curranes national school, Castleisland, County Kerry.

There are no immediate proposals to commence work on an extension to Curranes national school, Castleisland, County Kerry. A review of enrolments at the school indicates that the staffing level may in the foreseeable future fall to two teachers and that a permanent extension may not be warranted. My Department have had under consideration the question of giving the school sufficient grant-aid to provide one prefabricated classroom pending the clarification of future staffing levels and accommodation needs. Discussions with the school authorities have not yet been concluded. I shall arrange to have the Deputy informed of developments in due course.
