Vol. 377 No. 4

Written Answers. - Thatched House Numbers.

23.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he has satisfied himself that the number of thatched houses in the country has not been reduced because of the stipulation in the house improvement grants scheme that work must be carried out by registered thatchers; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The requirement that, to qualify for a house improvement grant, work should be carried out by a registered contractor should not prevent owners of thatched houses from having rethatching works undertaken.
