I have already explained the reasons for my suspending the work experience programme in my reply on 22 October 1987 to a previous question on this issue from the Deputy.
At that time I told the Deputy that I had been discussing with my colleague the Minister for Education what could be done to assist early school leavers over and above the social guarantee. In my reply to Question No. 1 today, I have indicated that I will be making an announcement shortly on the matter.
