Vol. 377 No. 6

Written Answers - Local Authority Associations Request for Meeting.

160.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether he has received a request to meet with the executive of the local authority members association; if so, if he will indicate whether he has agreed to such a meeting; and when the meeting will take place.

There are two representative associations for local authorities, the County Councils' General Council and the Association of Municipal Authorities of Ireland, which are recognised by statute. I consider it appropriate that I should deal with these two statutorily recognised bodies on any matters relating to local government. I am replying accordingly to the recent request on behalf of the Local Authority Members Association for a meeting.
