Vol. 377 No. 6

Written Answers - Dental and Optical Treatment.

194.

asked the Minister for Health if he will agree to make the necessary finance available to the Southern Health Board to provide dental and optical treatment for qualified persons.

The 1988 allocation to the Southern Health Board, notified to the board in October 1987, amounted to £125.880 million. The Deputy will appreciate that decisions on the detailed distribution of the allocation are a matter for the Southern Health Board. However, in notifying the board of their allocation, I have asked that sufficient resources be provided from within their budget to ensure the protection of community care services.
