Vol. 377 No. 6

Written Answers - Genetic Counselling Services.

44.

asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement regarding the suspension of genetic counselling services in the Mater Hospital, Dublin 7 and the Children's Hospital, Temple Street, Dublin 1; and the steps that are being taken by him to restore the suspended service.

I am aware that difficulties have arisen with the staffing of the cyto-genetic laboratory service at the Children's Hospital, Temple Street. This situation arose because of the resignation of the technician who had the necessary expertise.

I understand that the hospital is exploring ways and means of restoring the service as soon as possible.
