Discussions are at present being held between my Department and a number of major hospitals, including health board hospitals, on a possible new methodology of determining their allocations for 1989.
I would envisage that the new method to be introduced will take more exact account of the output expected from our major hospitals and the level of funding necessary to support that activity.
