Vol. 377 No. 7

Written Answers. - Rod Licences.

58.

asked the Minister for the Marine whether life members of the former Inland Fisheries Trust will be required to pay rod licences under the 1988 Fisheries Act.

Those aged 66 and over are not, under the Act, required to purchase a licence to fish for trout and coarse fish. The Act provides for life members of the former Inland Fisheries Trust to be permitted to fish for trout or coarse fish on waters owned or controlled by the central or regional fisheries boards without payment of a permit charge. Life members of the former Inland Fisheries Trust are required under the Fisheries (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 1987, to purchase licences for salmon, trout or coarse fish angling.
