Vol. 377 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Kilkenny Land Registry Case.

73.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will arrange to have a dealing expedited in the Land Registry for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this is an application for registration of a deed of exchange which was lodged in the Land Registry on 1 February 1988. I understand that registration in such cases usually takes from four to five weeks to complete at present provided no queries have to be raised with the applicant's solicitor. I think I ought to indicate that priority cannot be given to particular applications except at the expense of other applications. I am informed, however, that as a matter of policy the Land Registry will expedite cases in which the applicants or their solicitors bring to its attention the fact that special circumstances of urgency exist. A request for expedition was made in this case but it was decided that the grounds for expedition were not sufficient to warrant giving the application priority over other applications.
